  • 1963.

    Establishment of LAMA

    LAMA is a family-owned business established by Dr. Zafer Sawaf in 1963. Dr. Sawaf received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, he also held years of experience working in the Ministry of Industry, while he held the position of Secretary-General of Arab Standards and Metrology Organization (ASMO) in Jordan. His years of involvement in the science field allowed him to develop a baseline for asphalt-based recipes that LAMA was able to develop on over half a century.

  • 1985.

    Producing Membranes.

    After a decade of experimentation and development that showed a lot of promise and traction with the quality of coatings and mastics that LAMA produced, LAMA added its first membrane production line to the factory, a milestone in the future of the company.

  • 1990.

    Emerging as a Leader in our Industry.

    LAMA enjoyed a prosperous time throughout the 1990s. It was able to streamline its processes, and it built a reputation of quality and reliable products amongst contractors, making it an industry standard in the Middle East region.

  • 2012.

    LAMA’s Builds More Factories.

    Due to increasing demand, LAMA built two new factories in 2002 and in 2012 and were able to further expand regional reach.

  • 2019.

    Canada: A new beginning.

    LAMA is now operating a new plant in Brantford, ON.

As part of our commitment towards customer satisfaction, we have adopted an effective Quality Management System that covers all of the processes required to comply with ISO 9001. The Quality Management System we implemented here at LAMA has proved well since 1999, the date we were granted by Lloyd’s Register, with its efficiency through continual product development, as well as exceptional service we provide our customers. In order to ensure the effectiveness and continual improvement of our system, we have been delicately monitoring and controlling all work processes to ensure customer satisfaction. We have achieved that through management responsibility, resources management, product realization, and quantifying and analyzing performance metrics over the last decade. Our labs & standards

We have effectively contributed in developing the construction sector, especially the bitumen industry. Our labs are the fundamental basis of our company, where lengthy tests and experiments have been conducted to develop the optimal asphalt mixture, as well as the coatings and mastics used for waterproofing in various applications. This was just the beginning. Later on, our experts continued with product research and development resulting in finding an optimal modified bitumen mixture, which resists extreme temperatures. Continued development from our labs allowed us to surpass our competition and become an industry leader in manufacturing bitumen-based waterproofing products in the region. We pride ourselves in providing our customers with the best, safest, and most effective waterproofing products that comply with several international standards; ASTM (American Standards), BS (British Standards), UEAtc (European Union of Agrément), and ISO (International Organization for Standardization).
